Importing Objects from Sketchfab

Sketchfab is an online platform hosting a large collection of 3D models. The app integrates Sketchfab directly into the Library panel, so you can search, preview and import models without leaving the app.

You need an Internet connection and a free Sketchfab account to download models.

Opening the Sketchfab Library

Open the Library panel and select Sketchfab from the category drop-down menu at the top of the panel. The panel will show the Sketchfab browse view with a list of categories.

Logging In to Sketchfab

Before you can download models, you need to authorize the app to access your Sketchfab account. Choose Log in to Sketchfab in the panel’s context menu (the gear icon). A browser window will open with the Sketchfab authorization page. After you grant access, the browser redirects back and the panel refreshes, showing the browsing interface.

You only need to log in once. The authorization token is stored securely in the app settings.

To log out, open the same context menu and choose Log out of Sketchfab.

Browsing and Searching

You can browse models by category or search for a specific model by typing a keyword in the search field at the top of the panel and pressing Return.

To load additional results, click the Load More button at the bottom of the list.

To preview a model before importing, select it in the list and click the preview button at the bottom of the panel. The preview lets you rotate the model in 3D to check it from all angles.

Importing a Model

To import a model into your project, double-click it in the Library panel, or select it and press Return. You can also drag a model from the panel and drop it onto the floor plan.

Models are downloaded in the glTF/glb format. After downloading, the model is added to your project and can be positioned, resized and have materials applied to it just like any other imported object.

The Type and Representation dialog opens automatically after the import, allowing you to verify the object’s dimensions and set the correct object type if needed.

Notes

Not all models on Sketchfab are downloadable. The download button is only available for models whose authors have enabled it. The panel shows only downloadable models.

Textures included in the downloaded model are embedded in the glb file and are imported automatically.
